Welcome to Prairieland Service Dog Training

At PSDT, we specialize in working with owner-trainers. We don’t raise puppies or provide fully trained dogs. Instead, we guide committed handlers through every stage of service dog development—advanced obedience, public access, and task training tailored to medical and psychiatric needs.

We’re not a charity, but we do work with low-income individuals where possible—because access to proper training shouldn’t be reserved for the privileged.

Whether you’re starting with solid foundations or need help refining skills, we focus on coaching you as the handler, not just training the dog. Our goal is confident teams that are capable, ethical, and ready for the real world.

Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, we’re here to help you and your dog succeed every step of the way.

Thank you for choosing PSDT—where we turn your dedication into a life-changing partnership.

Emotional Support Animal

Our ESA program at Prairieland Service Dog Training is designed to help individuals train their dogs to provide emotional comfort and companionship. While ESAs are not service dogs and do not perform specific tasks, they play an important role in supporting mental health and well-being.

OUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

At Prairieland Service Dog Training, we believe that service dog work begins with respect—for the dog, for the handler, and for the process. Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that a well-trained service dog team is built, not bought.

We don’t take shortcuts.

We don’t rely on trend-based tools or quick fixes.

We don’t train for applause.

We train for courtrooms, classrooms, trauma recovery, mobility, and real life.

We coach owner-trainers to build reliable, task-capable, and confident dogs through:

  • Clear structure
  • Evidence-informed methods
  • Relationship-first handling
  • Accountability at every stage

We are not a board-and-train facility. We don’t hand you a “finished product.” We walk with you through the hard parts—because that’s where real handler confidence is forged.

We expect commitment. We provide support. And we honor the dignity of every team that puts in the work.

"I have trained along side Candace and her service dog since my service dog was a puppy my dog would not be where he is today without the knowledge that Candace provided also I would not be as confident to advocate for my dog in public without them."
